3rd Evangelion Film Announced for Fall of 2012!

At last! We finally have a date on the 3rd Evangelion film!

Khara has confirmed that Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q Quickening, the third film in Hideaki Anno and Khara's four-part remake of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, will open in Japan in Fall of 2012. The announcement was made during a new preview of the film that aired after the television premiere of the second film.

That would put it's release here in North America somewhere around late 2013, or about 2 years from now. It's a long time to wait, but now at least we know. :-)

Yeesh, that really is a long wait. Even for Japan that's a really long wait. For us though...ugghh.

Is there a reason why this one is taking so long?

I think these top end projects end up on such long time lines in Japan now because they have to fund themselves along the way. Also, the most expensive projects are very highly diversified in order to help mitigate the economic risk. Every step has to be renegotiated while more players are coming and going than ever. I'm thinking about Hellsing Ultimate here as well. 2013-2014 is long way away for the US release. A lot can happen between now and then.
