High Gas Prices By County

While one would think gas prices have nothing to do with Anime, I can assure you that they are actually quite important - at least if you are sitting on our side of the computer screen.

If anyone is interested, here is a neat zoomable tool that shows average gas prices nationwide by county. Not that it will do us much good to know what gas is selling for two states over, but it might help give us all a little solidarity that we are not the only ones feeling the pain at the pump.

And of it's any consolation, some of our customers in Britain are reporting gas prices around £1.30 a litre, which in our terms would come in at something like $9.50 a gallon.

Yikes!

For once, living in the Dakotas isn't too bad a deal. >_>

lol, well, I feel stupid. I meant Montana and Wyoming. I'm not sure how I confused them with the Dakotas. (Seriously, I LIVED in South Dakota for 2 years so I don't even know how I could possibly make that mistake!)

Yup, it's crazy. I'm from the UK and it was £1.28 a litre 2 days ago when I filled up my tank from about 1/4 full. Cost me like £40 which is around $65 to you folks. And from what I hear it's even worse in the centre of the big cities like London where it's between £1.30-40 a litre. Your image accompanying the post can't be more true lol.

Everyone thought I was crazy when I bought the Yamaha C3 back in 2007. Who's laughing now?

That's the ticket man!

It sounds a little crazy because I'm a Harley guy, but we picked up a Honda Rebel back in 2007 when Jamie was doing her cycle training so she could learn on a small bike. Every spring I say I'm going to sell it, but it's a 250 and gets like 80mpg, and I just like having it around. Never know when we're going to need it.

This is why I bought a Toyota Prius in late 2009 (2010 model). I have a 50 mile round trip commute to work every day, and that car has been a life saver on my wallet. It only cost me $25 to fill it up on Wednesday last week, and I still have a third of a tank left before it needs to be refilled.

On a side note, I didn't know you were a Harley guy! My dad works for Harley (designs the bikes in the styling department). So it's always good hear of fellow Harley fans.

We bought a Kai Soul in 2009, and it gets around 34mpg. We use it for daily driving. Saves us a ton of money. Truck stays parked most of the time these days unless we need to haul something.

Yep, I'm an Enigma. I currently cruise a Road King (a 2007 SEO) and also have an Ultra for long trips (like to Sturgis). Looking forward to spring, because I've definately got the itch after being couped up all winter.

So no kidding, your dad works in design for Moco?! Very cool man!

Yeah, my biggest hang up with Harley is that they don't offer a single entry sized machine. But, man, if I were you I would have gotten her a Yamaha RD350. I don't care what anyone says, but the RD350 is still the most fun you can have on two wheels. Of course, to stay relevant to the topic at hand, it does get terrible mpg.

I can't find the link to it right now, but I remember reading that because the production of hybrid vehicles are so much more specialized than they are mass produced that over the course of the vehicles' life hybrids will actually use considerably more fuel than their non-hybrid counterparts. Of course this is only relevant from an environmental point of view and not from the consumer's.
