IDA Posts English Cat Shit One Trailer

IDA has finally posted the long promised English trailer for the Cat Shit One. The director of the war anime, Kazuya Sasahara, also announced on Saturday that the previously announced free English stream of the anime has been rescheduled for February 5.

In addition he said the planned DVD and Blu-ray Disc release has also been rescheduled for the same date on Amazon, but as of today Amazon still shows both as 'unavailable' for order.

~sigh~ This one had so much potential too. Those guys at IDA could F$#& up a cup of coffee. :-) Anyway, here's the trailer (comes after the ads):

I love Botasky's EBR... do want!

UPDATE: OK, just for fun, lets take a look at Packy & Botasky's kit:

Botasky has a pretty straight forward EBR setup, the enhanced 7.62x51 (.308) M14 build that Smith Enterprise (and Fulton Armory I think) puts together for the Military using their parts and a special stock designed by Sage International. The Smith Enterprise three point scope mount for the M14 is about the best you can get - I have one on my M1A. He also is setup with a suppressor and a laser designator (probably an AN/PEQ of some type) for night operations. His optics are probably a variable Leopold Mark 4 with a mil dot reticle, and he has a diffuser cover on the front lens to prevent reflected light from giving away his position. On top the scope he has an Aimpoint reflex site for close in work should it become necessary. Finally, he is using some sort of Harris style bi-pod, which is very common. I think his backup piece is a custom 1911 of some sort judging by the backstrap safety.

Packy's weapon is definately an AR style flat top, but it's not an M4. His rifle has a vertical grip with a pressure switch for a laser mounted under the quad rail hand guard. He has flip up sights and also an Aimpoint red dot or reflex sight (maybe an M68?), and also a Voltor style adjustable stock. These are all features you'd expect to see on a regular M4, but Packy's weapon is clearly chambered for 7.62x39 which is the cartridge the AK uses. While unusual, there are a lot of AR makers that produce versions chambered for this round. This is a good choice for Packy, because as they operate deep behind enemy lines cut off from re-supply, he would want his battle rifle to run the same ammunition and magazines the enemy uses. An interesting choice by the film producers that is a credit to their attention to detail. I believe Packy's backup gun is also a highly customized 1911. This also makes sense, as the two could easily exchange magazines.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

Wow. Animals packing EBR and taking down skinny animals like a Veterinary conference meets Black Hawk Down. I like it.

But seriously, I reallu don't get the marketing strategy at all. I mean, it's completely bizarre.

It looks great but that animated series disc is 22 minutes long. That's it?

While it's not anime per se it does look amazing, but I'm definitely not sure about IDA as you mentioned. I'll stick with DD for the coffee or something comparable.

This marketing problem never seems to go away.

Hey Draw2Much, thanks for commenting! I read your blog from time to time. Took guts to take on the BC issue you recently wrote about. Bravo!

Yeah, most people probably havn't been following the aborted production of CSO. If I remember correctly they had planned for a 12 episode series, but the funding never materialized and they ended up with only a short OVA. The guys at IDW did a horrible job with the marketing.

Wha? It's only 22 minutes long?! Awwww.... I didn't know. Well, I'll still watch it anyway. But that's kind of sad. I really liked the premise and all. :-/

@Robert, Woah, I feel special! I didn't know any read my journal.

It all started 'cause my husband heard some silliness some where that wasn't quite factual. But I'm terrible at explaining things through word-of-mouth so I had to write it all down and then give some sort of proof I wasn't talking out of my rear end. *chortles* Took 2 days and almost no sleep to get it into a coherent article. :)

I can't say this interests me. It just doesn't look appealing at all in my opinion. I mean, I guess it's nice to see something different, but it's definitely not something that I'd watch personally.

Yeah, that's what I'm always talking about when I say the guys at IDW really screwed this project up. They have been promising a full CSO series for 2 1/2 years, and in the end we get 30 minutes. Anyway, don't buy it, just check it out on YouTube Feb 5th. That's what I'm going to do.

I spy on our blog followers from time to time. You know, to see what nasty things they are saying about me. -_^

I know all about that. :-) Some people probably think this stuff just rolls off the keyboard. I never say anything, but some weeks I can bang out our newsletter in a couple hours. Sometimes it takes 6 or 7 hours. When I do a 'State of the Industry' article in particular I might draw on half a dozen sources and even fact check with an insider that I know somewhere. Might take me 4 or 5 hours of re-writes to get 4 or 5 paragraphs. Man, I'm glad I don't do this professionally...oh wait...

Anyway, great article on a tough subject. It really fit in with a conversation that was going on back here. I thought your arguments were very well reasoned.

It speaks to the gun geek in me. :-)

@Robert, Checking the facts can be the difficult thing. Especially online when you're never quite sure if someone is just making things up.

But the hardest part for me was putting all the sources together into one coherent piece. I think that's where the real difficulty comes in. You can't just through out random numbers, you gotta write it in a way that's readable and show why it's applicable.

I always like your "State of the Industry" articles, by the way. If not for you I wouldn't know half of what't going on in the Anime industry. I run an anime themed site so this sort of information is useful to me and helps me when I talk with my members. (We're probably one of the only anime websites out there that specifically forbids linking to websites that host anime illegally. ;) )

It's very tough sometimes. Points that appear perfectly clear to you can be lost on the reader if you don’t do a good job of focusing the specific points of the subject matter, all the while trying not to lecture but just give the reader the facts in a concise way that allows them to make a decision for themselves. And of course trying hard to ignore that all your readers will be making a decision about YOU as well. I'm OK with that, and I do my best not to pander to my audience. I know my subject matter, but I'm still not as good at framing my point as I would like. I would make a lousy propaganda minster, which is why I’ve never worked in sales or marketing - I was always on the buy side way back when I was in private industry. I HATE spin.

The paradox and difficulty of administering a Christian Anime community is not lost on me. :-)
