Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 Now Available for Pre-Order! [UPDATED]

We just got Bandai's July schedule this morning, and it's excellent. Looks like Bandai is still alive and kicking and determined to maintain their presence in the R1 market.

We've now added all of the following to the site for pre-order, including the first bundle of Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 for pre-order. Here's what Bandai's full July release schedule looks like:

Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 DVD Bundle #1 (DVD #1-2)
Code Geass Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 DVD Bundle #1 (
Limited Edition)
Eureka Seven Complete Collection #2 DVD Boxed Set (Anime Legends) (Eps #27-52)
Freedom (Freedom Project) Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set
Ghost Slayers Part #3 DVD Bundle (Eps #21-30)
Hayate the Combat Butler DVD Bundle #1 (2 Disks) (Eps #1-7)
True Tears Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Anime Legends)

The R2 limited edition will include Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Manga Vol #4.

In addition to the new announcements, we also have another schedule change. The Kurokami The Animation Part #1 DVD Bundle (Disc #1&2) (Eps #1-8) that was originally scheduled for June 16th has been DELAYED and put on TBA status. My understanding is that Bandai decided to prioritize their resources for the release of Code Geass R2 (they wanted it coming out the same month as Anime Expo) and that Kurokami will pop back up on the release schedule in August or September.

True Tears get's a reprieve and will be released all at once as a boxed set, which is much better than we would have gotten last year under the old Bandai Visual label. And don't forget Hayate the Combat Butler. That title has been on my 'A' list all year, so I'm very excited to see it finally get on the schedule! :-)

Hey, Robert has Bandai said anything on whether or not we could expect anymore nicer LE extras like OSTs, Sound episodes, CLAMP booklets or an ender artbox for R2 at some point?

Hey, Robert has Bandai said anything on whether or not we could expect anymore nicer LE extras like OSTs, Sound episodes, CLAMP booklets or an ender artbox for R2 at some point? It appears for the LE they are simply bundling Manga Volume #4 along with the Disk #1-2 bundle and adding a modest $5 extra to the price. It begs the question of why they are doing a Limited version at all. I think (sadly) that the days of Fetish boxes for R1 collectors are just about over. Still, if this LE sells well enough I would expect 2 more with other extra's. Remember, they canceled the Limited version of Lucky Star 6 outright a couple months ago due to lack of demand, so I suppose we should to be satisfied that we are getting R2 at all. :-) This will be a make or break release for Bandai here in the US.

Robert...

What do you mean by "This will be a make or break release for Bandai" ?

Are you saying this could put them 6 feet under,if it fails to sell well ?

Wasn't the cash spent to dub R2 already allocated, before, the North American market imploded ? Wouldnt it be crazy for Bandai,to not release R2 on dvd HERE,given it got TV play, and is fairly well known ??? As well it was already dubbed a long while ago,was it not ?

I bought/preordered,the first two LE's for S1,and the RE for part 3.
and I am really looking forward to owning R2 on dvd.

The first artbox is gorgeous, too bad we wont get another one from Bandai, for any series, likely ever.

I mean exactly that. R2 will determine the top of the current market for them, and it's performance will determine how they go forward. It could be a game changer.

This is easily their biggest title/license. This is why it surprises me that they are not giving more LE items with this release. In my opinion Bandai should have tried to put more $$ and effort into R2 even if it meant putting other titles on the back burner until Code Geass is all done and consistent. Gundam 00 is not a small fry either but at least those releases will all be consistent with their new market strategy.
