Attack on Titan Part #2 w/ Limited ARTBOX - Now Available for Pre-Order at RACS!

Funi has announced a fourth version of the upcoming Attack on Titan Part #2 set today. In addition to the previously announced Standard Edition (FN-07262) and Limited Edition (FN-07263) sets, Funi will also make a Limited Edition + ARTBOX version (FN-07270) available through select retailers like RACS. The Limited Edition + ARTBOX version will include a special artbox that will hold the Attack on Titan Limited Edition Parts 1 and 2.

Attack on Titan Collection #2 DVD/BD Combo Set (Limited Edition) + Art Box

This Limited Edition + ARTBOX version really will be 'limited' in the sense that Funi is only going to offer a certain number of them to retailers, and each one of us is getting a specific allocation of the number of them we are allowed to order. Once they are spoken for we will not be able to re-order anymore. We're currently offering the SE, LE, and LE + BOX at some very special pre-order prices ($26.98, $47.98, & $54.98). So there you have it, four different versions of the same release - a new record! Frankly I think if I hear the world 'exclusive' used in relation to a Titan release one more time, I'm going to scream! -_^

Funimation Announces DragonBall Z 'Rock the Dragon' Edition for August

Funimation just sent over a note to let us know they are adding a new special edition release of the original broadcast version of DragonBall Z to the schedule:

The box will street on August 20th. MSRP will be $99.98

Release highlights:
• Contains Eps #1-53 + 3 Movies (Dead Zone, the Worlds Strongest, and Tree of Might) on 9 DVD's.

Have An Amazon Gift Certificate? You Can Spend it at RACS like Cash!

Several customers have inquired recently about how they might redeem an Amazon gift code or certificate here at RACS, so I though I'd do a quick post about it.

First, can you redeem an Amazon gift certificate or gift at RACS? Why, yes, I don't see why not (though our FAQ doesn't specifically mention this right now). Now obviously we cannot setup the store to automatically accept an Amazon gift code, but, you CAN spend an Amazon gift card here at RACS via mail order. Do you have something that looks like this laying around:

We will treat your valid, unredeemed Amazon gift certificate or gift code just like cash at full face value, so just place your order and select 'check' or 'money order' as your payment option, and then mail in your Amazon gift certificate or gift code (make sure we know the amount it's good for) to us along with any balance that might be due (via check or money order) and we will apply it your our order just like it's cash. Also, don't want to mail them, you can just drop the Amazon claim code # and dollar amount from the gift certificate into the comments box on the order form, or e-mail it (them) to us  (be sure to include your order #) after you place your order and we'll apply them to the order balance. This would work for credit card orders as well as long as you don't mind us adjusting the balance of the order by the amount of the gift certificate on our end AFTER the order is placed. How's that sound? :-)

Bandai Announces March & April 2011 Releases - Including K-On!

Bandai has given us their March and April 2011 release schedules, and we now have them available on the store site for pre-order.

In addition to these new releases, they have also rescheduled the upcoming Code Geass box back to March:

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Anime Legends) - Feb 8 to Mar 22

A couple of comments: With the rescheduling of the Code Geass box, Bandai will have no new releases streeting for the next 2 months. The Girl Who Lept Through Time seems a strange choice for their next BD release, but we will finally be getting the Girl Who Lept Through Space, though only on DVD, and sadly, only subtitled. The Haruhi-chan & Nyoron Churuya-san! DVD's were originally going to be another one of those Bandai Store exclusives, but I suppose they found out they could not sell anywhere near enough copies just on their own store, so they are putting it out on the street to let us carry it. We'll be offering it for a lower price than them - you know, just to say thanks for their consideration. -_^

But really, who cares about all that, because we are FINALLY GETTING K-ON! We'll be offering each DVD and BD at 40% off MSRP*. That means we will barely be making any money on it, but I figure that's the best way we can help get the series into as many fans hands as possible!

UPDATE: Just FYI, I'm checking with Bandai on the 66 Minute thing. It's really hard to believe they would go with a 2 ep per disk release. I'll verify one way or the other on Monday when they get back in the office.

UPDATE 2: The folks at Bandai have just confirmed that the original playing time for K-On Vol #1 is a typo at 66 minutes. Vol #1 WILL BE 100 MINUTES, and contain eps #1-4 of the series. BD Will be Region 'A' encoded according to the producer.
