I don't see a Blu-Ray release for Toaru Majutsu no Index...
Tell me I'm wrong, but please don't tell me Kadokawa's embargo on Blu-Rays has extended to older shows, too. If so, that's ludicrous.
One other oddity:
Funimation's releasing Tenchi Universe before the original Tenchi Muyo? Odd (but somewhat understandable) choice...

Bingo.
releasing Tenchi Universe before the original Tenchi Muyo
Tenchi Universe was a logical choice because it's the scarcest Tenchi series in the marketplace right now. The OVA and especially Tokyo can still be found pretty cheaply from the old Geneon releases.
1) I knew it.
On a recent ANNCast podcast, Justin and Zac both said that other Japanese anime distributors were also enforcing their own Blu-Ray embargoes (and one company refuses to stream any of their titles). I wonder which ones...
2) How curious. In the past, the Tenchi Muyo OVA Ultimate Collection was the rarest Tenchi DVD set out there (with the Mihoshi Special/Pretty Sammy OVA DVD being the rarest individual DVD).
